| The drive from the International Airport to South Point Abbey in Ahangama is about 3 1/2 hours along the coastal belt that leads to the South of the island. Passing the historic city of Galle, the drive from the Koggala Airport is approximately 10 minutes. Sri Lankan Airlines has introduced Air Taxi flights which take about 45 minutes to reach Koggala. Three Wheeler Taxi's are widely available while the hotel also arranges airport pickups upon request. |

South Point Abbey offers 4 large and airy air-conditioned bedrooms that also include ceiling fans, four poster beds and mosquito nets. All rooms include modern bathrooms with hot/cold water on tap. The 1st floor has three large bedrooms, a living area and a wide veranda that overlooks the garden and the beach. Two of the bedrooms has a king sized four poster bed each, large French windows opening out to the veranda and also a safe for your valuables. There is one bedroom with two single four poster beds connecting to another room which is ideal for families. This has a separate entrance from the garden. The Ground floor has one bedroom with a double queen sized bed, mosquito nets, an en suite bathroom with ‘His’ and ‘Her’ wash basins. |
South Point Abbey Facilities |
The living area on the first floor of South Point Abbey is furnished with comfortable sofas, a television and music system and large French windows that open out to the spacious veranda. The veranda offers guests a fine view of the ocean. The Ground floor which leads from the open veranda includes a study and a sitting area while the dining area is also located on the veranda. The study which includes a fan can be converted to a small single room if the necessity arises.
South Point Abbey consists of a modern kitchen where guests can watch the chef prepare gourmet specialties. Guests can also request meals not listed on the menu and are welcome to discuss with the chef and order accordingly. For relaxing purposes, the property provides guests with an infinity pool and jacuzzi. The garden steps down to the beach through a grove of trees where birds and butterflies roam around during the season. The staff consists of 6 members - a chef, housekeeper, houseboy, gardener, a night watchman and a manager. Wireless Internet connectivity is also available in South Point Abbey. Yoga instructors and masseurs can be arranged upon prior notice. |
South Point Abbey Excursions |
The sea that adjoins South Point Abbey is safe for swimming and is also excellent for snorkelling within the reef lagoon. Activities include diving, surfing, walking, jogging, paddle boats and deep sea fishing. Dolphins have also been sighted in the sea opposite the property while they have known to accompany boats on several occasions.
Guests can also make trips to a turtle hatchery which is a turtle conservation project carried out in the area. Sightseeing within easy reach of the Property includes the Historic city of Galle and the magnificent Dutch Fort, the Hadunagoda Tea Factory and the Koggala Lake. A few hours away from the hotel are wild life parks such as Yala and Uda Walawe as well as the Sinharaja Rain Forest which is a haven for the nature lover. |
