South Point Cottage Location

About a 5 minute drive inland from the 133 km post from Colombo is South Point Cottage. The drive from Colombo to the Cottage takes about 3 1/2 hours while Sri Lankan Air Taxi flights from the Katunayake International airport to the Koggala airport are available. The Cottage is found nestled among tall trees in a picturesque spot on the banks of the Koggala Lake.

The South Point Villa has two levels with 3 bedrooms while the 1st floor consists of a large en suite bedroom with a fine view of the Koggala Lake and the distant hills. Amenities include a king size four poster bed draped with mosquito nets, ceiling fan, a balcony facing the lake, television, DVD player and music setup. A modern attached bathroom with his and her wash basins, rainfall shower and hot/cold water is also available.

Bedrooms in the ground floor - each has two single beds, mosquito nets, fans, attached modern bathrooms with rain shower and hot/cold water on tap. One bed room has a connecting door to the up stair room.

South Point Cottage Facilities

South Point Cottage consists of a large spacious kitchen and for those guests on long stays who wish to do their own purchasing of lagoon crabs, prawns and fish can be purchased direct from fisherman as their boats glide past. The chef will be happy to prepare gourmet meals in ways you prefer. You can dine where you want and when you want and also walk into the kitchen and offer a helping hand to the chef.

There are spacious verandas on either sides or the front area of the cottage where you can directly step out to the beautiful and well maintained garden. This two level rustic yet elegant cottage offers guests a homely ambiance in a rural village. You can have a dip in the pool or head towards the pier in the evenings and witness the activities by the Koggala Lake. The Staff includes a chef, house boy, night watchman and a manager to overlook your requirements.

South Point Cottage Excursions

Activities include walks in the laid back little village for a first hand experience in Sri Lanka's rural life style. You will find an ancient Buddhist temple adjoining the garden where Buddhist ceremonies are part and parcel of the village.
The area is also ideal for water sports where guests can have fun with paddle bots, local canoes, kayaks, and motor boats. Still fishing and strolling along the banks of the lake are also local activities to keep you in a holiday mood. With time in hand you can also head towards the beach and enjoy snorkelling in coral pools or enjoy surfing in fine weather.
