| Max Wadiya is a boutique hotel on the southwestern coast offering tranquility, space, a feeling of home, and a view of infinity. 'Wadiya' means 'rest house' in Sinhalese, and few places on the planet can be as restful. Take off your watch, leave your shoes at the door, let the staff take care of your needs and melt into inner peace. |

Max Wadiya Accommodation |
Situated in a beautifully landscaped garden, Max Wadiya has a double-story villa of three bedrooms and, attached by a delightful courtyard, two self-contained
suites. Antique colonial furniture and carefully selected local art lend a comfortable elegance and warmth. The house is well stocked with linens and towels, as well as a washing machine and ironing facilities should you feel the unlikely need to dress for dinner. An ADSL, Internet line has been installed, with wireless connection throughout the property.
The garden, partially shaded by a coconut grove, is ideal
for reading, relaxing in lounge chairs, sun-bathing, playing with the children in the wading pool or sand-box or swaying in hammocks on the edge of the beach. A selection of outdoor sporting equipment is available for the more energetic. You can dine on barbecued seafood in a pavilion by the sea or in the courtyard by the fountain.
The villa consists of three air-conditioned double bedrooms each with an adjoining bathroom, and a combined living and dining room with a custom-built bar. Patios on both floors face the sea and are perfect for an early morning coffee or to curl up in an armchair to read. There is a library of well-thumbed pockets books and a TV/DVD corner with cable television. A CD player is available, so don't forget to bring along your favorite discs.
The two air-conditioned luxury suites are in a separate
building across a charming inner courtyard shaded by the overhanging boughs of a flowering Jacaranda. Each elegantly furnished suite occupies a complete floor with an all-glass front facing the sea and opens onto a verandah for reading or dining in privacy. A mini-pantry in each suite is equipped with fridge, coffee machine and electric kettle. Each suite has its own music system. |
Max Wadiya Facilities |
| Rent catamarans or motor boats from the local fishermen to explore the lagoons. Visit the Kosgoda turtle hatcheries, snorkel, surf or scuba dive around Hikkeduwa, a 15-minute ride to the south. Walk around the 17th c. fortress town of Galle with its chic shops, cafes and galleries. Enjoy a variety of water sports, dolphin and whale spotting and deep sea fishing in the resorts of Unawatuna and Mirissa. Pay a visit to Yala national park or Singharaja rain-forest, or try some river-rafting at Kithulgala. Back at the wadiya, try an ayurvedic massage, yoga lessons on the beach or a cooking lesson in Sri Lankan cuisine by our chef. |
