Cranford Villa Location

Cranford Villa is located in the town of Diyatalawa which is approximately 215 km away and a 5-6 hour drive from Colombo. Diyatalawa is situated in close proximity to the scenic towns of Haputale and Bandarawela and is also home to the military training academy. According to sources, the location was selected around 1885 by the British Army to establish a training facility and now attracts thousands of spectators for the Annual Fox Hill Super Cross races.

Inspired from Sri Lanka's Colonial past, the design of Cranford Villa is a reminiscent of a bygone era. With teak four poster beds, Cranford Villa boasts of five newly refurbished bedrooms all which include en-suite bathroom facilities. Unlike the standard rooms, the two deluxe rooms at the Villa consist of its own television with a variety of local and International cable channels.

A delight to your senses, at Cranford Villa, you can taste both Eastern and Western cuisine while the chef is also able to accommodate most of your dietary requirements. The Villa offers flexible dining arrangements, so if you prefer a more romantic setting, a candle lit dinner can be arranged while breakfast and tea can be taken outdoors in the summer hut or veranda. Picnics and BBQ's can be organized for a minimal extra charge while room service is available till midnight.

Most of the fruits and vegetables are produced at Cranford Villa itself providing guests the opportunity to enjoy fresh produce. You can also purchase these from the Villa. From a bright and cool veranda to a quaint fire place, guests can take a stroll in the extensive gardens, relax in the hot water jacuzzi or maybe enjoy a game of basketball and badminton or a range of indoor games like carom, darts and cards upon request. You can also make use of the DVD Library that includes an extensive collection of movies.

Cranford Villa Excursions

You can make trips from Cranford Villa to the picturesque town of Bandarawela with one of the best climates in the country or the Haputale town which is about 13km away lying along a mountain ridge of the southern edge of the central highlands. You can make a visit to the Diyaluma Falls which is the second highest waterfall in Sri Lanka located 35 km away from the Villa or Ravana Ella (Falls) which has a connection to the Eastern Epic Ramayana. Other places of interest include the Dambatenna Tea Factory, Lipton's Seat, Adisham Monestary, the Ella Gap and the Hortan Plains. The region is a true paradise for nature lovers.
