Nisala Arana Location

Nisala Arana is found in the coastal village of Bentota in the South Western part of Sri Lanka. Bentota which is located about 64 km South of Colombo is only about an hour and a half away. Luxury airport transfers are available while public transport options such as buses and trains run on a daily basis from Colombo Fort which is a major transportation hub. Sea Plane services from the airport to Bentota are also available. The property is set in four and a half acres of beautiful tropical gardens while the beach is only 10 minutes away.

Nisala Arana offers accommodation in three colonial styled luxury villas. Choose from the Grand 150 year old Doctor's House, the modish and calm coconut suites or the luxury and spacious tree top Mango Suites. All rooms are furnished with antiques set against white washed walls and polished cement floors.

The Doctor's House
This Dutch colonial bungalow has been sensitively restored to its former charm and consists of an open column verandah, living room with ornate arches and dining area with central courtyard reflection pond. There is a Master bedroom overlooking the gardens and pool with King Size four-poster bed, antique Almirah, writing desk and chair. A second bedroom offers twin four-poster beds and both bedrooms overlook the inner courtyard lotus pond. The Bathroom is finished in polished cement and features an open-air garden bathroom shower.

The Doctor's House has coolness in its brilliant white walls and soft polished floors and warmth with its wooden antique furniture, Persian rugs, library and local artworks. The Doctor's House also offers some serendipitous luxuries.

The Mango Wing
The elevated suites of the Mango villa offer open views across the gardens and pool. The broad verandah features a rare and beautiful antique balustrade while dramatic Jaffna temple doors create the ingress to both of these spacious bedroom suites.

Each room is tastefully furnished with luxurious king four-poster beds, private dining setting, Almirah wardrobe, writing desk, and day bed lounger. The shaded bathrooms featuring a half-wall of windows in Sri Lankan trelliswork can be opened out to create the feeling of living in a tree house. If you want privacy, just pull down the white canvas blinds. The Mango Suites also Include Air Conditioning, TV with Sat and DVD.

The Coconut Wing
Named after the beautifully shaped coconut palm that rises from the verandah, this wing has two stylish double bedrooms with large canopied queen beds, antique furnishings and opens to a spacious outdoor tropical garden bathroom. Designed in calm Colonial style with very high ceilings, polished cement floors and ceiling fans to keep you cool.

Have morning tea or coffee on the wide verandah. Relax in your planter's chair and enjoy the gardens and brilliant displays of birdlife. The white washed walls and contiguous gardens truly frame the ambience of the tropics.

The Bentota Beach offers a picturesque coastline which will leave you breathless. Activities that guests can enjoy include turtle watching, river cruises, handicrafts, surfing, diving, wind surfing, jet boating and deep sea fishing. Nisala Arana's classic car can take you to famous gardens, remote villages, paddy fields, cave temples and charming antique stores. Places of interest include Bawa's Brief Gardens and Lunuganga, shopping in the local area, the Dutch Galle Fort and the Sinharaja Rain Forest.
