Barberyn Reef Ayurveda Resort Location

Barberyn Reef Ayurveda Resort is located along the islands' South-West Coast, in the coastal town of Beruwela, 58km away from Colombo. The resort is approximately 85km from the International airport in Katunayake, while public transport options are also available other than private taxi services. The property has a long sea front which is sheltered by a natural reef while the garden bears palm trees swaying in the cool breeze.

Consisting of 75 rooms, most of the units of Barberyn Reef Ayurveda Resort have been newly rebuilt while the others have been refurbished. The Garden rooms and Beach Front rooms are available in clusters while some units are found on stilts and some on two levels.

These rooms are found in groups of two, four, six and eight while they are elegantly furnished and comfortable for a wonderful holiday. The Duplex rooms are located above the dining room and include high ceilings and a mezzanine floor built with wood serving as a small sitting area while the Classic rooms are located in the upper levels of the Ayurveda centre overlooking the garden and the pool.

The resort includes only a few air-conditioned rooms located in the main building as most guests prefer natural ventilation which is recommended in Ayurveda. There are also standard rooms on the ground floor of the main building. All of the resort's rooms are beautifully furnished and also include mosquito nets, attached toilets with shower or bath tubs, natural ventilation and electric fans and a terrace or balcony.

The main Dining Room adjoins a terrace for outdoor dining while a wide range of food is served during breakfast and lunch buffets. Dinner is mainly served according to the prescribed requirement of each guest with the kitchen and dining room working closely, with an individual card placed on each table with the dietary plan. You can also enjoy morning and afternoon tea as well as a fresh fruit juice at the dining room or poolside. "The Sunshine Restaurant is the a la carte beach restaurant where you can enjoy fresh Sri Lankan tea, light meals and fruit juices while sun sets over the horizon.

Barberyn Reef Ayurveda Resort Ayurveda Health Centre has been dedicated in providing authentic Ayurvedic treatment programs since 1984. The Health Centre has a team of specially trained staff members, including resident Ayurveda doctors, therapists, medicine makers and acupuncture specialists. An increasing number of guests arrive at the centre for shoulder pain, back aches , insomnia, Gastritis ulcers and skin disorders.

Ayurveda has very effective remedies for these medical problems. Yoga and meditation is also practiced at the resort.

The Reading Room offers guests the privilege of reading the owners' collection of material on Eastern and Western spiritual philosophies. The arts and crafts shop at the resort includes and oriental collection that draws together many products of the region from naturally dyed hand-woven silks and colourful embroideries to artefacts of wood and handcrafted silver.

Barberyn Reef Ayurveda Resort has three conference rooms for the purpose of workshops, seminars, forums while the required audio/video equipment is available. You can also enjoy a swim at the resorts swimming pool. The Barberyn Reef also conducts cooking classes with the assistance of the chefs and physicians.

Barberyn Reef Ayurveda Resort Excursions

Short excursions include trips to the Galapota Temple, Brief Garden, Gangatilaka Viharaya, Kechimalai mosque, Turtle Hatcheries and River Cruises. You can also make a trip to the port of Galle which proudly illustrates the Dutch presence in Sri Lanka.
Longer trips can be arranged as tour packages to Sigiriya, Polonnaruwa, Dambulla, Kandy and Nuwara Eliya. Tourist attractions also include a number of dry and wet land nature reserves and wildlife sanctuaries around the country.
