Ambalama has four spacious suites all enjoying ocean views through louvered French doors which open onto a lawned terrace. Two rooms each are located either end of the villa affording privacy and the villa can comfortably two families or groups of friends. Cots can be provided.
All rooms have air conditioning and celing fans.Temperatures at night are comfortable with cooling breezes off the ocean . Dark wooden four poster beds with ultra comfortable mattresses each with mosquito netting and fresh linen offer you a wonderful night's sleep. There are three King sized double beds and one twin room.
Each room has a spacious, well appointed ensuite bathroom with twin vanities, hot water showers and soft towels. Two bathrooms feature spectacular outdoor showers in complete privacy.
Ambalama is available for booking either exclusively for the whole villa or per room (excluding the Peak Season). Peak season is from 15 December to 5th January. High season is from 1st November to 30th April and 1-31st August whilst the Value Season is on all other dates. We try to be flexible to your booking requirements, subject to availability, and can offer exclusivity for small groups in the Value Season for a supplement on a per room basis. Unwind in the large open living room looking onto the ocean or relax on sun beds around our large infinity pool. Alternatively we would be happy to arrange for a traditional Sri Lankan massage. We can arrange a variety of massage therapies.
As for dining Ambalama offers a feast of choices; eating at home enjoy international or local cuisine prepared by our in-house chef served by our courteous house boys. Enjoy a BBQ with lobsters caught off the beach or superb fresh fish from the local market caught daily. This is your holiday and, unlike in hotels, you can be involved or not in the cuisine preparation including joining the chef to buy the fresh fish and produce. At Ambalama there are are no schedules for mealtimes. Nearby along the coast or in Galle there is excellent choice of restaurants, all within 10-15 mins drive.
Each bedroom opens onto a lawn terrace affording privacy. The manicured garden fringed by coconut palms is a wonderful place to relax and rest.
For security we have a nightwatchman nd in case you do still want to keep in touch with the outside world roaming signals for handphones are good and there is broadband internet access.
Finally, don't forget your favorite music - we have an iPod dock with Bose speakers.

A unique and fascinating microsm of Sri Lankan history with marvellous colonial architecture, narrow streets, intriguing shops and fine restaurants. Buddhist temples, mosques and 18th century Dutch churches all within easy walking distance.
The Great Outdoors
All within access there are so many options for you to enjoy and experience. 5 mins from Ambalama is the world famous Unawatuna Beach offering several scuba diving schools to take you to near by reefs. Surfers can enjoy the great Indian ocean rollers all along the southern coast. Or take a stroll at sunset along the pristine beach at Ambalama and watch the fishermen perched on their stilts .
The Sinharaja Rainforest Reserve is only an hour away and further afield are the Uda Walawe National Park and the Yala National Park ,home of the rare leopard.
During the past few years the Galle Literary Festival held in the second half of January has attracted many world famous authors. For sports lovers the Galle cricket ground hosts Test matches and the annual elephant polo tournament is not to be missed.
Ambalama is located 7 km south west of historic Galle on the ocean road to Matara on the pristine Dahawella beach, home to the distinctive Sri Lankan phenomenon of stilt fishermen. Colombo is 125 kms away . Allow for 3.5-4.5 hours from Colombo airport. We can arrange airport transfers.
