Gampola was the site of the Kingdom prior to its transfer to Kandy during the last quarter of the 15th century. in the reign of King Vikramabahu. This manor house with a history of over 175 years is currently owned by the fourth generation of the Panabokke Family. It is now a National Heritage Home recognized by the government of Sri Lanka.
