A tea planter's bungalow which was built in the early 1900's, this abode offers a luxurious setting for the upscale traveller, in both traditional and modern comforts. | Hatton, located in the central highlands of Sri Lanka is home to Castlereagh Bungalow. The distance from the Katunayake International Airport is approximately 160km while Colombo is about 130km away. The town is accessible via the Colombo - Badulla Railway line and also the Colombo - Avissawella - Nuwara Eliya main road. The Bungalow is about 30 minutes (14km) away from the Hatton town (8.5kmfrom main road turn off).

| Castlereagh Bungalow offers 5 accommodation units. There are three garden suites namely Baker, Alston and Palmer consists of a king size bed, a bath with rain shower and a private garden. Baker and Alston have the additional facility of a private veranda. All garden suites provide guests with views of the tea fields. Jamieson and Tate are two luxury rooms that also consist of a bath with rain shower and views of the lake and tea fields. Jamieson has twin beds while Tate includes a king size bed.

With beautiful views across the lake and offering guests the ambience of a typical colonial lifestyle, Castlereagh Bungalow is nestled in a wooded area. With elegant parquet floors and open fireplaces in the dining and drawing rooms, you are assured of a peaceful and luxurious stay. There are summer houses in the grounds of the property where you can enjoy tea and also maybe enjoy a good book. Other facilities include an outdoor swimming pool, sun beds to laze around, croquet, a library and garden dining facilities.
The cuisine at the bungalow offers you a nostalgic blast from Europe that includes mouth-watering desserts as well. Each bungalow has a Manager, Chef, Butler and support staff to welcome guests as at a planter's home.

For a wonderful Tea Trails experience, the resident Tea Planter will show you the age-old tea making process. You can also follow the trail of the planters of old Ceylon, as they trekked through the dense jungle looking for the best slopes on which to plant tea.
Hatton also serves as a gateway to Nuwara Eliya and the Adam's Peak which is famed as Sri Pada. The season brings in pilgrims from all over the country while it is sacred to three religions, Buddhists, Muslims and Hindus.
Nuwara Eliya is about 48km away from the property and is a paradise for the tea lovers of Sri Lanka. The surroundings are found with misty hills and green carpets of tea estates for miles around. Horton Plains which is famed as Sri Lanka's highest plateau is also a popular tourist destination.
