Refurbishment and reimaging of Chaaya Citadel Kandy
This is to inform you that Chaaya Citadel Kandy will be subject to refurbishment and reimaging commencing summer 2012. The refurbishment will be in phase and the resort will continue to operate with limited inventory during this period, as detailed below.
Phase I: 9th May - 31st July 2012
Only the 24 deluxe rooms of the hotel will be operational during this period. The reception, lobby, main bar and main restaurant will also undergo refurbishment during this time. The pool will be closed for guest use from 9 May till May 2012.
The front office/ reception functions will be relocated to the conference room and the fining dining restaurant will be temporarily converted to the all-meal buffet restaurant, to cater to in-house guests during the Phase I of refurbishment. Accordingly conference facilities and the fine dining facility will not be available for during this period.
Phase II: 1st - 31st August 2012
All public areas will be functional during this period together with 70 guest rooms which will include 24 deluxe rooms.

Chaaya Citadel Kandy also offers 24 spacious Deluxe Rooms which are all air-conditioned and again overlooking the river while featuring elements and themes that are inspired by the rich cultural heritage of the ancient city of Kandy. Comfortable queen size beds and a sitting area with a built-in couch and coffee table are additional luxuries that are on offer. Other facilities include a well-stocked mini-bar, cable television, DVD player, a large bath and glass shower cubicle, bathrobes and bathroom slippers, complimentary toiletries, complimentary tea/coffee making facilities and a balcony with outdoor style seating.

Chaaya Citadel Facilities |
Wide arrays of facilities are provided for the guests at Chaaya Citadel Kandy that includes a spacious restaurant on the first floor of the main wing of the hotel. This Vil Eliya Restaurant as it is named, offers a wide choice of buffet style dining choices at all mealtimes. For a more fine dining experience, the Mahaweli Eliya restaurant offers an authentic Kandyan cuisine that includes a delightful choice of A la Carte menus. This restaurant also includes a bar. The Giri Sikara Lounge and Bar is an open lounge bar where guests have the opportunity to enjoy cocktails, mock tails at any time of the day as well as local and imported spirits which are available on request. Giri Sikara also features live entertainment in the night. The Pool bar is a fabulous place to sip a drink and enjoy the view that surrounds the hotel. Recreation facilities at the hotel includes a swimming pool with a kiddies area, a wide terrace to sun bathe and indoor games such as billiards, snooker and table tennis. |
Chaaya Citadel Excursions |
Excursions can be organized to numerous rock temples and shrines that bear evidence to the rich legacy of the by-gone eras of Kandyan royalty. Tea plucking demonstration and competition is also included in this excursion package while a visit to the brass work district of Kandy can be organized. For the more adventurous traveler, a scenic trek package is available. A two hour scenic drive is all it takes for travelers to reach the knuckles mountain range which includes panoramic views of the surrounding hills, plains, rain forests, grasslands and waterfalls. Guests can also walk about the city exploring the wonders that Kandy has to offer that includes the temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, the Kandy Lake, the botanical gardens and many more. |
