Kandy is the Hill Capital of Sri Lanka and has a rich cultural heritage for many centuries. Kandy was the last stronghold of the Sinhala Kingdom and it was in the year 1815 during the reign of the final Kandyan King, Sri Wickrama Rajasinghe that the kingdom fell into the hands of the British.
