Clingendael Location

Clingendael is located in the majestic Kandyan Hills of Sri Lanka on the premises of the Victoria Golf & Country Resort. The distance from Kandy to the property is approximately 23km and the route takes you through Digana Town. Kandy is about a three hour drive away from Colombo while it is also the transportation of the central region with trains and buses travelling to many parts of the country on a daily basis.

Guestrooms at Clingendael are individually designed and adorned with fine artwork, antiques, paintings and furniture offering guests the ambience of a bygone era yet combined with a modern touch. Comprising of 5 spacious air-conditioned suites in varied sizes, the property offers scenic views of the surroundings.

The Four Poster Room - Which is also the master suite has a four poster king size bed, a lounge chair and a magnificent view of the golf course and surroundings. The adjoining spacious lounge room has a three seater sofa, two large arm chairs, an antique bullock car coffee table and an antique writing desk. There is also an adjoining walk-in robe with a dressing table while the bathroom consists of double large overhead showers.

The Blue Room - Facilities include a main bedroom with a king size bed, large comfortable sitting area for two and an antique writing desk / dressing table. With views of the golf course and the reservoir, the suite also has an adjoining walk-in robe and a spacious bathroom with large double overhead showers.

The Red Room - A main king size bedroom with a king size bed, a comfortable sitting area for two and also an antique writing desk that makes up the main area of the guestroom. There is also an adjoining walk-in robe with a dressing table. The adjoining bathroom has double large overhead showers and windows with beautiful views of the surroundings. The room also consists of an in-room mezzanine floor with a queen size day bed which is accessible by an antique staircase. A private covered open air-verandah with private dining and a sitting area with panoramic views of the garden.

The Brown Room - With a main king size bedroom and a comfortable sitting area, this guestroom also has a walk-in robe with a dressing table. The adjoining bathroom has a Japanese bath and a large overhead shower. A private covered but open verandah which has a dining area and sitting area provides stunning vistas of the golf course and the reservoir. There is also an in-room mezzanine floor with a "David Bowie" daybed, an antique writing desk, sitting area and an antique staircase to reach the area.

The Green Room - Consists of a main twin bedroom with a sitting area for two guests as well as an adjoining walk-in robe with a dressing table. The room also includes a split level bathroom equipped with double large overhead showers. The private covered but open terrace has a sitting area with magnificent views of the surroundings. The Green Room also has a mezzanine floor with an antique staircase a comfortable daybed and a sitting area.

Clingendael Facilities

Clingendael offers a selection of mouth watering Sri Lankan dishes, Oriental favourites as well as Western Gourmet cuisine. The resident chef is available for you to discuss your preferences for any other culinary delights. Guests also have the opportunity to enjoy meals in many locations of the bungalow, be it the cool verandahs, a garden setting, the pool side, or the lounge area overlooking the Koi pond. For formal dining and large groups, Clingendael offers a grand dining table that can sit up to 14 guests. Clingendael also caters for Halal and vegetarian requirements.

The Clingendael's lush tropical gardens have a rich variety of flowering plants and majestic palm trees. The infinity pool area is a haven of tranquillity. Guests can also enjoy a drink or lunch while sitting by the pool bar or the bar outside the pool. You can take a plunge in the pool and laze off in the Jacuzzi jets corner whilst soaking in the sun. Butlers are available at any time to attend to your needs.

For guests seeking a Golf Vacation, Clingendael is the ideal place to be. The Victoria Golf Course is minutes away with trained caddies and "ball spotters" on hand to assist you. Besides golf, explore at your leisure one of the many bird watching and jungle trails. The "Victoria Stables" provide, lessens in horse riding.

Day trips as well as overnight trips can be organized from Clingendael to Sri Lanka's multitude of interesting and historically significant places. Kandy which is the closest historically relevant site to visit, offers you the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic and the Kandy Lake.
