The Kandy House Location |
| Kandy House is situated at Gunnepana, Kandy which is about a 3 - 3 ½ hour drive from Colombo depending on the time of day you are travelling. The distance from Kandy to Colombo is about 116km while public transport options are widely available in the town centre. Trains and buses arrive daily to Kandy from Colombo while taxis and tuk tuk rides are also available. |
The Kandy House Accommodation |
Eight uniquely designed bed rooms are available at Kandy House with four ultra rooms and four deluxe rooms.
Ultra Rooms - These consists of the Black Rajah, Indian Admiral, Peacock Royal and the Red Spot Duke. The "Black Rajah" is the only suite in the house with arched doors which opens out from a comfortable living room onto a "secret garden" below. It also includes a luxury octagonal bath and massage area which is located within a beautiful inner sleeping sanctum. The attached bathroom consists of a shower and double basins while there is a double swing hammock in the secret garden outside.
The "Indian Admiral" is on the upper floor overlooking paddy fields and the spacious inner courtyard. Facilities include ceiling fans, a four poster bed, mosquito nets, a bathtub, separate shower and double basins.
The "Peacock Royal" and the "Red Spot Duke" are the two most spacious bedrooms at the Kandy House opening onto a wide veranda with cane chaise lounges, reading chairs and antiques.
Deluxe Rooms - Consists of the Monkey Puzzle, Pioneer, Sunbeam and Cornelian. The "Monkey Puzzle" is a twin bedroom with a mosquito net, fan, attached bathroom with a shower and double basins. It has an arched stairway leading directly out to the garden while the room adjoins the Black Rajah.
"Pioneer" has a private veranda and is located in the garden with canopied bed, mosquito net, ceiling fan, bathroom, drench shower and double basins. There is also a double swing hammock just off the veranda.
With a view over the pool, "Sunbeam" overlooks the courtyard and consists of a luxury four poster bed, net, ceiling fan, an old fashioned bathtub and a separate shower room and toilet. Featuring a veranda with chaises lounges and views of the jungle, "Cornelian" is a double room on the upper floor overlooking the courtyard. There is a four poster bed and a beautiful bathroom with a large bathtub.

There is a fabulous spread of food with traditional Sri Lankan delicacies and ingredients with a twist of modern International dishes and flavours at the Kandy House. Meals are served on the back veranda while guests can also enjoy candlelit dinners under the stars or intimate dinners in the privacy of your own veranda.
Kandy House also includes a jungle fringed infinity pool, beautiful gardens, yoga lessons, head massages and reflexology sessions. Weddings are a dream come true at the Kandy House while the property is also a perfect getaway for honeymooners. The staff boys are friendly and are indeed helpful in everyway. |

| There are plenty of things to do in and around Kandy. Within 30 minutes of Kandy House is the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic. You can also stay at Kandy House and enjoy spotting 59 varieties of birds frolicking in the garden. Within a couple of hours you can reach the Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage, the tea-country - Nuwara Eliya, the Dambulla Cave Temple or enjoy a drive through the scenic Knuckles Range or trek Corbet’s Gap with a guide. Day trips can include Sigiriya, Hatton and Bandarawela. |
