The Albatross which is situated about a ½ hour drive away from the Kandy town is a property designed for golfing enthusiasts as well as families and also local and foreign travellers. With views of famous mountain ranges and the close proximity of the Victoria Golf Club certainly makes the Albatross a fine venue for holiday makers.
With five elegantly furnished air-conditioned guestrooms, the abode provides guests with comfortable surroundings and amenities. Meals are all prepared with care while guests can choose from a set menu as well as a la carte menus. The Albatross Location |
| Located within the Victoria Golf Complex on the slopes of the "Coconut Hill", The Albatross is a uniquely designed holiday villa that provides panoramic views of the Kandyan hills. The drive from the International airport in Katunayake takes approximately 3 1/2 - 4 hours while travel options from Colombo include hired vehicles, rented cars and public transport such as buses and trains. Intercity buses and trains make regular trips to and from Kandy on a day to day basis. |
The Albatross Accommodation |
| The Albatross holiday resort currently consists of five guestrooms that are quite elegantly furnished with the required amenities and attached toilets. Each room captures the magnificence of the surrounding landscape while these accommodation units are available in Single, Double or Triple occupancy accommodating up to 15 adults. All rooms are air-conditioned while luxury and deluxe categories are out for grabs. The Luxury rooms which are named "Hole in" and "Eagle" include satellite television and private dining besides Albatross falls. The Deluxe rooms are named "Birdie", "Par" and "Bogey". |
The Albatross Facilities |
Dining options at The Albatross includes a Diners Deck that provides an ideal atmosphere for fining dining. Excellent selections of meals are available as a set menu and a la carte with a good selection of wines. The head chef surprises you with his gourmet specialities and table side cooking. The Lounge and dining area provides guests with a beautifully tufted viewing deck with a separate area for BBQ's and alfresco meals. Recreational facilities at the hotel include a well designed swimming pool with a jacuzzi and sunbathing deck overlooking the scenic surroundings.
For relaxation again The Albatross houses a steam/sauna and massage room where a masseur is available at all times. The lounge area is located on the upper deck and includes a Satellite television with Star TV packages and a DVD/VCR player at your disposal. Indoor games are also available while golf can be made available through the Victoria Golf Club. Activities such as tennis, badminton, horse riding, pony rides and bird watching tours can be arranged. |
The Albatross Excursions |
From The Albatross you can view a range of mountains namely the Corbett's Gap, Hunasgiriya, Knuckles Range, Hantane and Bambaragala. On a clear morning, the Pidurutalagala peak (Sri Lanka's Highest peak) is also visible. The magnificent Victoria Dam and its waterways surround the Golfing complex while a great part of the course stretches at the base of the Coconut Hill.
Guests can have a bird's eye view of the golfing activities of the Victoria Course. Less than an hour's drive away guests can reach places of interest such as the historical city of Kandy with the Temple of the sacred tooth relic and the Kandy Lake, the Victoria Dam, an ancient rock temple and a meditation centre. A two hour drive will take you to the Wasgamuwa National park or the Knuckles mountain range where the wilderness and splendour of our little island awaits you.
