Originally known as the "Dumbara Kanduvetiya" by the locals and named as "The Knuckles Range" by British surveyors, the Corbet's View Hotel is located on the Eastern slopes from Corbet's Gap at an elevation of 3250ft. Corbet's Gap is found in the South region of the mountain range while "Corbet" was the surveyor who mapped the area during the 19th century.
Roughly about 55km away from Kandy, the route to the hotel takes you through Kundasale, Digana, Teldeniya, Medamahanuwara, Hunnsagiriya, Kobonilla and Knuckles. The Mountains 'Kobonilagala' and 'Dumbangala' are found in the immediate surroundings.

The property does not include electricity, a telephone or a television. The hotel being a part of a 150 acre tea estate and forest area, water is drawn from a natural spring, while solar energy is used for lighting purposes.
Guests can relax in hammocks under the shades of the trees and also enjoy the splendid scenery from viewing decks. There is a resident caretaker at Corbet's View that will provide you home cooked Sri Lankan and Western cuisine. Many of the ingredients used for meals are gathered from nearby organic home gardens. |
Corbets View Excursions |
Many trails are offered for guests and nature enthusiasts at Corbet's View to explore the surroundings. Travellers can either walk, enjoy some cycling or either use a vehicle that is suitable for rough rides. Trails include the "Kobonilla-Loolwatte-Corbet's Gap" or the "Kobonilla-Deenston-Mini World's End" where guests are required to obtain a ticket for the 1km trek to enjoy the view from this point which is opposite the Deenston forest office.
Full day treks also include a trek to "Meemure" which is a traditional Sinhalese Village which is located in the valley between the mountains of Kalupahana and Kehelpathdoruwa. Adventurous mountain treks can also be enjoyed by nature lovers with breathtaking views of the surroundings, rocky hills, caves, wild flowers, bird life stream baths and water falls.
