The Sunset Special Tour is made to the Anavilundawa Bird Sanctuary which is a 1 1/2 hour ride away from the hotel on the Negombo - Puttalam highway. Guests can also walk around the town of Negombo which is situated by the shores of a lagoon which was in yester years used as a port by the Portuguese and the Dutch. Attractions in the city include the Old Dutch fort gate built in 1672 and now a part of the prison, the Dutch Canal which was then a supply route to the Dutch administration, old churches and fishing villages.
