Barberyn Beach Ayurveda Resort is located on the southern tip of Sri Lanka, in the coastal village of Weligama, approximately 140 km from Colombo. It was opened in 2003 and is operated by the owners of Barberyn Ayurveda Resorts.
They have pooled together the wealth of knowledge, experience and resources acquired over the years in providing Ayurveda treatment and operation of resorts for this project.
Contemporary architecture blends beautifully with indigenous design to create feeling of space and light - which brings nature in - for guests to enjoy the healing that comes from within.
You walk into the serene entrance pavilion, and you are greeted with the perfume of frangipani, and the traditional "Ayubowan - May you have a long life" - and you are taking the first steps in discovering the quiet elegance of Barberyn Beach and the Ayurveda way of life. |

At the highest point on the land is an open entrance pavilion looking over the grounds towards the sea. The pavilion is a place for guests to gather and listen to music, particularly as evening gives way to the night, and stars light the huge skies.
Ochre - colored guest rooms are designed to blend harmoniously to the natural surroundings, with clusters of rooms erected on stilts in the lush valley, sloping down to the sea. All the rooms have balconies and are connected by corridors, which lead to ramps which help guests to walk from the accommodation to the main service building including the health centre; the ramps have been designed to ensure wheel chair access.
The resort has three categories of rooms:
::Deluxe Studio Rooms appr. 450 sq. ft. + balcony
::Deluxe Rooms appr. 400 sq. ft. + balcony
::Standard Rooms appr. 300 sq. ft. + balcony
The spacious rooms are furnished to a high level of comfort using natural material. Rooms are bright and airy with high ceilings and ceiling fans, mosquito nets and en suite toilets. The majority of the rooms have four poster beds.
All resort buildings, resturants and guest rooms are built against the hillside facing the Indian Ocean with panoramic views of the garden and the sea.
Barberyn Beach provides all the facilities needed to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. It is a beautiful and elegant resort, built in such a way that guests can enjoy the feeling of space and light, the sounds of nature and huge night skies.
There is no television or music in the bedroom. You can hear the sounds of soft chanting from scriptures in the morning and evening as you pass the entrance pavilion, and soothing music at the health centre. You can also watch television, view videos or listen to music in the conference centre. For those who seek solitude and rest, the extensive resort grounds with its lush vegetation and birds provide the ideal back drop.
