| The annual feast of Madhu was celebrated by the Mannar diocese with Bishop Rayappu Joseph officiating with the participation of the Bishops of Anuradhapura ( North Central province) and Galle (Southern province) in attendance. Over one hundred priests and nuns, and around 25, 000 families of pilgrims from all parts of the country congregated in one place in a celebration of unity of peoples of varying ethnicities, united in one faith. |

| Soldiers on duty in the North offered a thousand lotuses to the historic Mavittapuram Kanthsawamy Kovil . This 7th century shrine is in the high security zone in the Jaffna peninsula in close proximity to Palaly Army and Airbase and the Kankesanthurai Naval harbour. The chariot festival was held with the participation of over 5000 devotees who came from various parts of the peninsula to pay homage at the shrine. |

| Pioneers of the Sinhala Ballet the Chitrasena Kalayathanaya keeping to their rich tradition is presenting a work of great choreography in the Kumbi Kathawa which was inspired by a Russian children?s story. Going on the boards at the Bishop?s College Auditorium on 7th , 8th and 9th September this ballet will be a treat for connoisseurs of dance as well as families with young children. |
