Moratuwa, Colombo district is located 18km south of the heart of Colombo in the western coast belt studded with pristine palm fringed tropical beaches from Wadduwa onwards to Galle when the lovely beaches run along the southern coast to Hambantota.
Moratuwa can be reached by Colombo-Galle-Matara (A2) main road as well as Colombo-Galle-Matara Southern railway line.

The definite and definitive technical aptitude of the people of Moratuwa resulted in the establishment of “Ceylon College of Technology” (CCT) in the year 1966, which was upgraded to a university in 1972; Ceylon-German Technical College and numerous other technical institutions in Moratuwa. Ceylon Government Railway (CGR) established its first and largest workshop at Ratmalana, the town next to Moratuwa.
Bolgoda Lake, a tributary of Kalu Ganga with its origin at Adams Peak, is a popular resort for swimming, angling, and wind surfing & boat trips. Blogoda Lake spreads, twisting from Ratmalana via Moratuwa and Panadura till it get close to the beach resort of Wadduwa, the gateway to the beautiful South-western and southern beaches.
